Incheon National University (President In-Jae Lee) held the 2025 August retirement ceremony for full-time faculty members on Thursday, the 28th, at 10 a.m. in the Small Theater of the Welfare Center on the Songdo Campus.
The ceremony was attended by about 150 people, including family members, faculty and staff, alumni, and students, to celebrate the retirement of professors Kim Yong-min (Department of French Language & Literature), Jung Byung-seo (Department of Chemistry), Lee Yoon (Division of International Trade), Yang Woon-keun (Department of Electronics Engineering), Jeon Seok-hee (Department of Electronics Engineering), Kim Ki-joon (Department of Biomedical&Robotics Engineering), Hong Ki-yong (Department of Business Administration), Shin Jong-hwa (Department of Urban Policy and Administration), Park Chan-jin (Department of Civil and Environment Engineering), and Bae Yang-seop (Department of Biological Sciences), who officially retired on August 31.
The university recognized their distinguished contributions by presenting plaques of merit and government awards. Eight professors, including Professor Kim Yong-min, received government commendations such as the Red Stripes Order of Service Merit, the Yellow Stripes Order of Service Merit, the Green Stripes Order of Service Merit, and the Service Merit Medal in recognition of their contributions to the advancement of national education.
In addition, five professors were posthumously appointed as emeritus professors at the ceremony, with the families of three of them in attendance to receive certificates of appointment and plaques of appreciation.
President In-Jae Lee remarked, “I believe that retirement is not a ‘period’ but rather a ‘new beginning,’” and offered his farewell by saying, “I extend my deepest respect and gratitude to the professors who have dedicated themselves to scholarship and education over the years.”
