RISE Project Group “Island Love Practice Campaign” – 5th Event
Marine Cleanup at Seonnyeobawi… Expanding Environmental Action through Industry–Academia–Research–Government Collaboration
Efforts to build a sustainable coastal environment in Incheon continue into 2026. Incheon National University, EOST Co., Ltd. (formerly EOSYSTEM), and staff from the Incheon Tourism Organization carried out a marine cleanup activity at Seonnyeobawi in Jung-gu, Incheon, further expanding collaborative environmental practices with the local community.
The RISE Project Group of Incheon National University (Director: Gyu-won Kim) announced that it held the 5th “Island Love Practice Campaign” on March 26, 2026, at Seonnyeobawi. This initiative is a collaborative program involving the university, the Island Development Support Center of the Incheon Tourism Organization, and employees of EOST Co., Ltd., and has been continuously carried out based on the achievements accumulated through four events in 2025.
In particular, EOST Co., Ltd., following its corporate name change, has further strengthened its commitment to environmental practices based on industry–academia–research–government collaboration, expanding this activity into a representative corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.
The campaign aims to preserve the marine environment along the Incheon coastline while promoting coexistence with the local community. Its significance lies in serving as a practical model of multi-stakeholder environmental collaboration.
Approximately 30 participants, including members of the INU RISE Project Group and employees from local companies, took part in the 5th campaign, collecting beach waste and conducting marine cleanup activities around Seonnyeobawi. Participants shared the view that areas with high tourist traffic require systematic environmental management and actively engaged in efforts to create a cleaner marine environment.
Gyu-won Kim, Director of the INU RISE Project Group, stated, “We will continue to expand the ‘Island Love Practice Campaign’ across the entire Incheon coastline through sustained collaboration among industry, academia, research institutes, and government,” adding, “We aim to establish a virtuous cycle model that simultaneously enhances marine environmental conservation and regional tourism competitiveness through multi-stakeholder cooperation.”
