Park Yeon-jeong(Master Student) / Lee Kang-ju(Professor)
Park Yeon-jeong, a master’s student in the Translational Bio-Microfabrication Laboratory (Advisor: Prof. Kangju Lee) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, was awarded the Best Presentation Award at the Fall Conference of the Korean Society for Biomaterials.
This award is given to presenters whose research is recognized for excellence among the papers presented at the conference. Park received the award for her paper titled “GelMA-Based Double Layered Microneedle Patch for Programmable Drug Release.”
The study developed a double-layered microneedle (MN) using GelMA (Gelatin Methacryloyl), a biocompatible material, through a simple vacuum-assisted fabrication process. This approach overcomes the limitations of conventional double-layered MNs, such as complex manufacturing and poor interlayer bonding. The proposed microneedle patch allows for sequential drug release and is expected to hold strong potential for commercialization.
