INU Global Lounge Opening
Strengthening global competitiveness by establishing a one-stop settlement support system and a hub for cultural exchange
Incheon National University (President: In-jae Lee) announced that it opened two “Global Lounge” facilities on March 30 to support the stable settlement of international students and promote intercultural exchange.
The newly established spaces—“Global UNI Land” on the 1st floor of the Observatory Tower and “Global UNI Lounge” located near the Office of International Support on the 1st floor of Building 1—were developed based on the Incheon i-RISE initiative and the University Innovation Support Project. By repurposing underutilized spaces, the university enhanced both spatial efficiency and accessibility, presenting a practical model for settlement support infrastructure.
The Global Lounge operates as a one-stop platform providing integrated administrative services essential for early settlement, including visa and immigration, national health insurance, telecommunications, and financial services. It also offers multilingual counseling and guidance, supporting international students’ daily adaptation while serving as a hub for cultural and language exchange programs that foster mutual understanding between international and domestic students.
In addition, the university plans to support academic adaptation through mentoring and various extracurricular programs, while expanding connections to employment and entrepreneurship opportunities through strengthened collaboration with local governments and related institutions, led by the RISE Project Group (Director: Gyu-won Kim). This approach aims to further advance a regional settlement-based global talent development system.
The opening ceremony was attended by approximately 120 participants, including university officials and students, and featured a progress report and a guided tour of the facilities.
Hong Jin-bae, Vice President for International Affairs, stated, “The Global Lounge serves as a key hub supporting the successful settlement and growth of international students,” adding, “We will continue to expand a globally integrated talent development system in connection with the local community.”
Incheon National University plans to further enhance its global campus environment by linking the i-RISE initiative with the University Innovation Support Project, while continuously strengthening its foundation for international competitiveness in harmony with the local community.
